Fujairah is the only emirate of UAE that lies solely on the Gulf of Oman with no part of it on the Persian Gulf. Unlike the other Emirates which are mainly desert regions, Fujairah is mountains and enjoys better rainfall than rest of the UAE.
Historically a minor port, today, Fujairah has highly modernized port operations handling bulk dry cargo, general cargo and containers.
The Fujairah Free Zone lies close to the port, offering seamless access to ports in the Persian Gulf, Red Sea, Iran, Pakistan and India. This has made it a popular destination for industries with significant trading activity.
